Databases

Secure Transfers

Unlike other providers, we actually are concerned with the security of our servers and your data. As such, all of our hosting packages come with SFTP, not just FTP. While FTP can be fine for basic non-critical transfers that have been segmented for specific areas of your site, it is not suitable for webroot-level communication. Other providers use control panels that force you to use the same administrative account for both your control panel and FTP (and sometimes even an email address), putting you and your data at significant risk of being hacked. SFTP allows for fully-encrypted transfers between you and our servers. We even provide you with a free SFTP-client (Windows, MacOS and Linux).

Complete DNS Management

Imagine that… a hosting provider that actually gives you control of your DNS records. We know, it sounds like a fairy tale, but it is true. We give you complete control over all of the records in your zone, including the ability to add/delete/modify records. You can also use our DNS servers to host records for domains you use elsewhere. And while we're on the subject of DNS, did you know about 95% of all hosting providers actually run their DNS servers on their web, email and database servers?!? Doing so opens up many opportunities for hacks and denial-of-service (DoS) attacks, that in the end, do nothing but result in downtime for your site, email, applications and reputation. getNetworks truly believes DNS belongs fully segregated, including the operating of separate authoritative nameservers from caching nameservers, thus reducing the likelihood of tainted records. We also run our DNS services under additional chrooting to further protect the DNS servers.
