getNetworks, Inc. was founded in August of 1995 to provide commercial web hosting and web consulting services. Thirteen years later, our focus hasn't changed. We've stood the test of time, even in today's faltering economy and the failure of so many .dotcom businesses.
We unveiled our first commerce-enabled hosting solution during the summer of 1996. It was a huge success...revolutionizing the way business was done in our world. Sure, there was a great deal of apprehension and many concerns around security, as it still remains today, but getNetworks stood by its convictions and continues to help companies move to the digital medium and maximize their bottom line.
As one of the first shared-hosting providers to offer SMX (the original scripting/macro language for web servers from The Internet Factory), ASP (from back in our late 90s Windows-based offering days), PHP, MySQL, and now Java Servlet/JSP capabilities, we have spent a great deal of time ensuring that our solution is the easiest and most robust in the industry. Support for Java Servlets/JSPs is one of the most sought after features in hosting today. getNetworks is a leader in this space and will continue to be for years to come.
Value. Performance. Reliability.
These are the three cornerstones of getNetworks' foundation. Every decision we make revolves around these three facets. We constantly ask ourselves "Does this increase the value of our services for our customers? Will this increase the performance and speed? Is the reliability best in class?" Every answer must be YES for every decision we make.
Value Not only are our prices competitive, but in many cases they are the best value in hosting today. With professional hosting starting as low as $7.50/month, you can have the quality hosting service you need, without breaking the bank. getNetworks, Inc. continues to provide post-sale value with responsive technical support and updated resources to help your business.
Performance The getNetworks Data Center (DC) is connected to the Internet through multiple direct private gigabit Ethernet backbones from Telia (supplying 402 peers), PCCW-BTN (supplying 341 peers), Global Crossing (supplying 738 peers) and Savvis/Cable & Wireless (supplying 546 peers) for primary traffic, a 10 gigabit connection to Cogent (supplying 1209 peers) and a second gigabit connection to Telia for lower-priority secondary traffic, as well as a supplemental gigabit Ethernet connection to the Atlanta Internet Exchange (AIX) public peering point supplying 12 additional providers, including Earthlink, Cox Communications and Georgia Tech. If all redundant peers are removed, we have more than 2700 unique peers via our direct gigabit Ethernet connections. Very few providers have a network that can outperform and outconnect ours, and whatever your bandwidth needs may be, getNetworks has the scalability to meet them.
Reliability getNetworks recognizes that downtime is not an option for your servers. That's why we invest heavily in hardware and facilities that ensure that your server is up and running on the web 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
getNetworks' DC features raised flooring, which enables a constant flow of conditioned air and helps to maintain uniform room temperature at all times. In addition, raised flooring reduces static and ensures a professional, computer-grade environment for your servers.
The facility is equipped with a VESDA fire suppression system, designed to immediately notify personnel of just the smallest particles of smoke and protect the equipment. The Network Operations Center (NOC) is controlled via automatic doors to further secure and protect the equipment.
Finally, the DC is a secure, monitored, carrier-class building with a minimum number of approved personnel allowed access to highly sensitive areas and equipment. A detailed record of employee and visitor entry is maintained at all times and extensive video surveillance and recording is in use. Both biometric hand scanners and card scanners are required to access the data center.
Uninterruptible Power System: To guard against local power failures, getNetworks has four industrial-grade, three-phase Liebert UPS systems with back-up battery systems. With these back-up systems in place, we can keep our network up and running indefinitely without relying on external power.
Force Filtered Cooling: All of getNetworks, Inc.'s custom enclosed racks are equipped with a positive-pressure filtered-air system. Multiple large fans pull filtered air into each rack's protective case, and the components within are cooled by fans that circulate this purified air. This constant introduction of clean air into the rack creates a positive pressure environment ensuring that dust and particles remain outside the rack. The entire DC is chilled with redundant Data Aire 26 Ton air conditioning units.
Standby Servers: We keep spare servers online of all CPU configurations. If a server were to experience a hardware failure, we would turn a key, grab the handle on the drive, pull it out and insert it into an identical standby CPU. We would then reboot the second machine, and the server would be up and running again in a matter of minutes.
Network Reliability: Industry analysis reveals that 70% of downtime of over 10 hours with any ISP is caused by circuit failure. With getNetworks, circuit failure is virtually eliminated. That's because the incoming fiber lines to our DC follow redundant paths and enter on every side of the facility.
getNetworks' providers also have peering connections with other major Tier 1 providers that allow traffic to be switched to alternate backbones should the need arise.
